Dwayne Johnson Won't Run For President, Says He's Choosing Parenting

 

There are currently no plans for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to run for president.

The actor, 50, spoke with Tracy Smith on "CBS Sunday Morning" about the demands for him to run for president in 2024. He has thought about running for the highest office, but it is now "off the table."

"I adore both our nation and its inhabitants. I also enjoy being a father "Johnson remarked. Sons of the "Black Adam" actor are Simone, 21, Jasmine, 6, and Tiana, 4.

He asserted that the present is a "crucial time" in Jasmine and Tiana's life and that the presidency will distance him from them.

Johnson, referring to the height of his WWE career, said, "I knew what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was away for my first daughter's growing up for a lot of years." "My daughters are my top priority. CEO sounds wonderful, but being a father is what I want to be the most."

On Instagram, the "Jumanji" actor went into more detail, writing that "the most powerful people in politics on both sides of the aisle have approached me asking and supporting that I run for President."

Since I'm neither a politician nor have I ever had the desire to be one, he said, "It's a humbling, appreciative, and inspirational feeling to even have these conversations." But I must admit that I have a deep love for my nation and its citizens.

Johnson is ultimately "choosing parenthood above presidency," according to his letter.

The actor didn't go into detail when asked if he would think about running for president as his girls become older.

Ye and Howard Stern are two Hollywood celebrities who have thrown their names into the ring for upcoming elections.

Johnson does not completely rule out running for president in the future but stated in 2019 that he would not do it in 2020 because "I need the experience, I lack a lot of stuff."

At the time, he said to IndieWire, "I'm not ruling out the concept if I could make a bigger effect somehow, or possibly surround myself with decent people.
