The Rocky Horror Picture Show is Back and So Are Its Wild Fans

The Rocky Horror Picture Show movie is a cultural phenomenon on a national scale. Every year on Halloween, numerous cinemas all throughout the county throw wild parties and show the movie late at night as part of a Halloween and horror extravaganza. The celebration is decorated in vibrant hues like passionate pink, fiery red, and yellow. There was also a lot of shouting and applause. One of the most popular is being held this Saturday, October 22, at the State Theatre New Jersey in New Brunswick. The movie starts at 11:00 p.m., while the celebration begins at 9:00 p.m. At one of the performances at the State Theatre, as many as 1,200 people attended the Rocky Horror spectacle.

What is causing all the commotion? This is a low-key horror film; it's hardly Ben Hur or Citizen Kane, you know?

The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been performed at the theater since 2013, and this year marks the return of the film and party. Kelly Blithe, the director of communications and community engagement, shakes her head.

It's a combination of things, she added, not just one.

"This is mostly a Halloween screening. Its followers consider it to be exceptional because of its association with the occasion. It is extremely unique because of the marriage of the party and the film. Everyone returns year after year. For them, it is a scheduled event, and many people have it on their "bucket list." Once in their lifetime is all they want to experience it.

After that, she spoke. And, well, Rocky Horror is different, I guess.

Oh my, it sure is.

The tale first debuted as a musical theatre back in 1975. Within a year, Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry, and Barry Bostwick starred in the film adaptation. Its admirers enjoyed that theaters started showing it late at night. In that year, it was screened twice a year in over 230 theaters, and the number kept rising.
